This is my second purchase of one of these hard drives. The previous one I have had for about 12 months.
Both have worked reliably with no problems. I have one as a mirror copy of the other for thousands of photographs and some other files.
They both arrived with the correct mains adapters, each was simply plugged in and worked imediately.
I am sure there are faster drives around but for the price these are great value.

The item was delivered quickly and was well packed. The box contained everything I needed to connect up, in fact it was a simple "plug and play" item. I purchased it primarily for back-ups and it works superbly well for this.
Before I received this item, i was concerned that I might have problems with it, having read all the reviews. However, there was really nothing to worry about. I am using a new computer running Windows 7 64 bit. If all you require is an external hard drive then I would recommend this one. I have to say however, if you reqire something portable to carry around with you then you may well find something more suitable. This one is simply a black plastic box, measuring 7"x4.1/2"x1.1/2"and is comparitably heavy, so I wouldn't want to carry it around with me.

A great Hard Drive for a complete system backup. Sits in the background backing up your PC/laptop with ease.

I picked this particular external HD for two reasons: i) it was cheap and ii) it was the most featureless I could find, without any of the naff plastic detailing that most other manufacturers embellish theirs with. It does exactly what it says on the tin; it's also quiet, which is something you can't really tell from the description. Amazon delivery (free next day with Prime) was also particularly speedy; I ordered it at 6pm and it arrived on my desk at 11am the next day.
Minor niggle: the drive has a stupid WD icon by default. If you want an icon identical to the internal drives on your PC, you'll need to edit the file autorun.inf on the drive; this is fairly easy, google it.

Harddisk was well packaged, nice design, as thin as it can be. Nearly no noise when it is in use and no issues yet with teperature, etc. Very good price for the performance and capacity!
