This is an excellent external drive, the only drawback is that there is no stand to mount it on it's side, so takes up that bit more space. There is not on/off switch and the drive light is actually on the back, which seems rather strange. But for the price I would definately recommend this drive.

I bought two of these 1TB western digital hard drives; One for my data and the other for backups. There are two cables, one for mains power and one for USB connectivity. Both cables are included.
The hard drives work great; just as expected. They are quit quiet and look sleek on the desk. They also stack on top of each other nicely.
The hard drives are pre-formated for windows (cant remember if its FAT32 or NTFS), but they can be reformatted if required; I formated mine in HFS for use with my apple macbook and all works fine.
These were the cheapest USB 1TB drives out when I bought them, and they are working great so far.

This is an external drive, and it fulfils its function perfectly. A terabyte is a lot of space, and will cater for 99% of users' storage needs.
Relating to the small percentage of people that are leaving 1 star reviews for this product; a small percentage of all electrical equipment will inevitably fail (and fail within this first week). I am certain that this is not down to the quality of this drive in particular. Mine is partitioned - I use 300gb for media storage, and 700gb for Time Machine back-ups, so it is running most of the time; no problems.

This is my second purchase of one of these hard drives. The previous one I have had for about 12 months.
Both have worked reliably with no problems. I have one as a mirror copy of the other for thousands of photographs and some other files.
They both arrived with the correct mains adapters, each was simply plugged in and worked imediately.
I am sure there are faster drives around but for the price these are great value.
